Weed and Seed is a community-based strategy sponsored by the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ). It is an innovative, comprehensive multiagency approach to law enforcement, crime prevention, and community revitalization.
Weed and Seed is foremost a strategy—rather than a grant program—that aims to prevent, control, and reduce violent crime, drug abuse, and gang activity.
Mt. Pleasant Weed and Seed is entering its 5th year of “weeding” out crime and drug trafficking in our community. Moreover, we have been instrumental in “seeding” our target area with programs for youth, families, and seniors.
We are currently working with various local agencies ranging from Federal, State and local government entities, private organizations, businesses, and community groups. Everyday we work towards making a difference in communities throughout the city of Cleveland.
This year's major objective is to create opportunities to sustain our projects and initiatives after funding is concluded in 2011. Stay up-to-date with what we are doing to improve the quality of life for the people of Mt. Pleasant by visiting this website often and passing along information presented here. We need your support and thank you for visiting!
