We're Growing, So We're Moving! PDF Print E-mail

we-are-movingThe Mt. Pleasant Weed and Seed Steering committee approved a measure to move its Economic Empowerment Center to a new location last month. We will be moving over the next few weeks in October and preparing for the roll-out of new programs in support of Weed and Seed initiatives. The Economic Empowerment Center is going through a re-branding phase right now and we will keep you in the loop with what's happening in the coming months. The new economic development center is located at 8003 Broadway; the old Bud Brady Ford dealership site. All of the programs offered at the old location will be continued at the new space. The Mt. Pleasant Weed and Seed main administrative office is still located in the heart of Mount Pleasant at 12800 Kinsman Avenue. What Is Weed and Seed? PDF Print E-mail

UDOJ SealWeed and Seed is a community-based strategy sponsored by the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ). It is an innovative, comprehensive multiagency approach to law enforcement, crime prevention, and community revitalization.

Weed and Seed is foremost a strategy—rather than a grant program—that aims to prevent, control, and reduce violent crime, drug abuse, and gang activity.

Mt. Pleasant Weed and Seed is entering its 5th year of “weeding” out crime and drug trafficking in our community. Moreover, we have been instrumental in “seeding” our target area with programs for youth, families, and seniors.

We are currently working with various local agencies ranging from Federal, State and local  government entities, private organizations, businesses, and community groups. Everyday we work towards making a difference in communities throughout the city of Cleveland.

This year's major objective is to create opportunities to sustain our projects and initiatives after funding is concluded in 2011. Stay up-to-date with what we are doing to improve the quality of life for the people of Mt. Pleasant by visiting this website often and passing along information presented here. We need your support and thank you for visiting!
